Did you provide 50 hours or more of pro bono service in 2015? 100 hours or more? If so, the DC Courts want to recognize your contribution!

The D.C. Court of Appeals and the D.C. Superior Court, in conjunction with the D.C. Access to Justice Commission and the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center, are calling for applications for the fifth annual Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll, which recognizes attorneys who have provided 50 hours or more of pro bono service during the calendar year. Attorneys providing 100 hours or more of pro bono service will be recognized on the “High Honor Roll.” Participating attorneys are recognized on the D.C. Courts’ website and elsewhere.

The Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll was launched in 2011 by the D.C. Courts as part of the National Celebration of Pro Bono to recognize the pro bono contributions of D.C. Bar members and others who are able to perform pro bono legal work in the District. Last year’s honor roll recognized more than 4,200 attorneys from all areas of practice.

To be included in the honor roll, eligible lawyers must submit an online application. Lawyers may register themselves or confer with their firm’s pro bono counsel/coordinator. Many firms submit bulk registrations on behalf of all their eligible attorneys. Applications to be on the list of honorees for 2015 are due by January 31, 2016.

Legal Aid encourages all of our amazing pro bono volunteers throughout the city to submit their applications or work their firm coordinator to do so. We want you to receive the recognition you deserve!

If you have any questions about the Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll, please email Lydia Watts, Deputy Director of the D.C. Access to Justice Commission, or contact her by phone at (202) 236-8935.
