Yesterday, at our Generous Associates Campaign and Pro Bono Volunteer Celebration, Legal Aid honored Jason Knott of Zuckerman Spaeder with our Making Justice Real Pro Bono Award. This award recognizes attorneys who have provided outstanding pro bono service through individual representation and/or leadership in facilitating such representation by their colleagues.

Jason was selected for his longstanding pro bono commitment and his dedication to making justice real for low-income residents in our community – specifically including a low-income, disabled District homeowner whom Jason has represented zealously and compassionately in an intense, multi-year foreclosure litigation (now on appeal) involving claims of mortgage fraud and predatory lending.

We were delighted to recognize Jason for his extraordinary, continuing work in that case in front of his peers and our many other volunteers in attendance. Legal Aid also had the opportunity to thank our hardworking Generous Associates Campaign coordinators, whose enthusiasm and drive led this year’s campaign to a record-shattering $2.15 million.

Congratulations to Jason, and thank you to all of our volunteers and coordinators for your contributions to Legal Aid’s client community.
