Last Tuesday, Legal Aid held its 28th Annual Servant of Justice Awards Dinner. We are so grateful to our dinner co-chairs, host committee, sponsors, and honorees for making it such a memorable evening.

With over 775 guests and more than 40 sponsors, the dinner set a record for both attendance and fundraising this year! The dinner successfully raised over $1.2 million to support Legal Aid’s mission of making justice real for low-income D.C. residents.

Thank you so, so much!

"It is often in times of crisis that we find our strongest voice."
- Vanita Gupta, 2017 Servant of Justice Awards Honoree

This year, we had the privilege of presenting our highest honor - the Servant of Justice Award - to two exceptional individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to access to justice for all: Vanita Gupta, incoming President and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil Human Rights, and Donald B. Verrilli, Jr. of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP.

"Those of us in a position to do more need to do more. Think of what Legal Aid can do if we give them the funding they need. What is our prosperity really worth if it can't even protect the rights and basic dignity of those around us?"
- Don Verrilli, 2017 Servant of Justice Awards Honoree

We were also thrilled to present this year's Klepper Prize for Volunteer Excellence to David Young of Ropes & Gray LLP for his extraordinary pro bono contributions to Legal Aid.

All of our honorees and presenters gave stirring and inspiring remarks, some of which are included with the photos below:
